Q

Why are my JPEGs smaller after processing with PortraitPro?

A The removal of spots and other blemishes in PortraitPro results in a picture that is more easily compressed with the lossy algorithms used in JPEG compression. This results in smaller files without changing the amount of useful information in the picture. However it is worth checking that when you save a JPEG you choose high quality compression as otherwise this would result in a loss of quality. If you are going to make several changes to the picture in different applications we would recommend using TIFFs rather than JPEGs because JPEG is a lossy format, so each time a JPEG is loaded and saved information is lost.
