DO NOT PURCHASE PORTRAIT PRO
If you are reading this, you've probably already made the mistake that I made...purchasing Portrait Pro.  But you now have the op to tell others to not purchse this product. Anthropics has successfully duped millions of us by taking our money and not delivering usable software. Not only is the software unusable, but the supposedly support for the product is non-existent. I've been trying to work a problem that I have with an upgrade to PP10 for the last week. With several open tickets, I've gotten only 2 responses and absolutely nothing when I asked that my money be returned for PP10 and/or PP9. As a professional photographer, I've lost productivity and money this week; it cannot be recouped. I am so angry about this that I am considering legal recourse...in the meantime, tell your friends and family; DO NOT PURCHASE PORTRAIT PROFESSIONAL[/u]

RE: DO NOT PURCHASE PORTRAIT PRO
Or....

In my case I tell all of my photographer and snapshooter friends to BUY THIS SOFTWARE. Considering the price it is probably the best investment in software I have ever made. It saves me hours of work with PS and results in more sellable images.

Just curious...you upgraded to PP10, which means you had PP9 and obviously liked it enough to upgrade. Yes?

I know how frustrating software issues can be (I've been writing code for nearly 40 years), but please take a deep breath and let the support team do their job. They will resolve it for you.

RE: DO NOT PURCHASE PORTRAIT PRO
Computers and computer software can sometimes make a person want to toss the computer out the window but we all know that won't solve the problem.

I'm not sure of the upgrade process from V9 to V10 so I'm guessing here. This is what I would do.

Check for updates for your operating system.
Check for updates for your video card.
Uninstall PP V9.
Run a program called CCleaner ( Windows program ) to get rid of any stray registry entries ( link below ) Just remember if your installing CCleaner to uncheck any toolbars etc but if you like extra stuff added by all means leave it checked.

Restart your computer and install a fresh copy of PP V10.
If that doesn't work then contact support.

RE: DO NOT PURCHASE PORTRAIT PRO
Hi Bbryant................. then I was lucky. I purchased PP9 online (last month) and when it downloaded (successfully - first time) the software had been upgraded to PP10..... for free. The software itself is amazing.
Hopefully the suggestions made by KDM will help, and ease your frustration....... they sound sound to me.
Regards

RE: DO NOT PURCHASE PORTRAIT PRO
I wonder how many people here are professional photographers? I have issues upgrading to V10 and when I went to the support team I could not talk to anyone on the phone and I was told that they would get back to me within 2 days!! This is totally unacceptable to professional users yes there are lots of programs that have their little problems but generally there is a professional support team available to help you and normally on the phone. I am amazed that considering the amount of sales this company have made they are not offering a full support service, it just smacks of penny pinching.

RE: DO NOT PURCHASE PORTRAIT PRO
Bbryant Im not a professional but do have PP Pro studio using a mac pro and the program works fine, however if your a pro photographer you should own more than one camera for a reason... so what did you do before PP?

The moral of the story dont have all your eggs in one basket...

I will continue like many others to tell people i know who would need to touch-up portrait photos to buy PP I can tell you it was a lot more expensive to buy adobe CS3!! and for portraits PP it is the dogs B******Ks. As Bclews said " Considering the price it is probably the best investment in software I have ever made " I agree with him.

RE: DO NOT PURCHASE PORTRAIT PRO
I too am having a problem with PP Pro on a Mac. The regular version works just fine, but I wanted it to work as a plug-in, so I upgraded to PP Pro and it worked great. My wife wanted it too, so I bought another license, but alas the plug-in does not work on her computer running Leopard 10.5.5, so I figured I should upgrade her machine to Snow Leopard, which I'm running, but before I could get around to it, the plug-in stopped working on my machine as well.

So, I'm assuming there's a bug in the program. If the program can't work as a plug-in with Photoshop CS 5 it's no better than the regular version. I need it to work and I hope there's a fix in the near future. Currently I have two licenses, both are defective.

I certainly didn't make the mistake of purchasing Portrait Professional 10 Studio 64-bit Edition - I invested money in a product that works flawlessly for me. I have told more than a couple of my peers (professional photographers) about this amazing software, and they've purchased, downloaded, installed and use this software without a single issue.

The software is unusable? I have no doubt that someone who has to open SEVERAL tickets to try to solve a problem is a rather impatient person who will not take the time to wait for a proper response. This person demands attention and figures that all the issues are solved with a single line of code.

Interesting - the OP certainly doesn't sound very professional. You sound like a wanna-be model who DEMANDS all the photos on a CD from a shoot RIGHT AFTER the shoot is over - and then screams about how they're not all perfectly suited for magazine publication. Please let us know who your attorney is - I'd love to give him a call, so we can share a really good laugh about how your case will be laughed out of court. I'm certain that there are enough satisfied clients running this software without issues...who would happily give the court a testimonial. You'll simply be wasting your time (and money) in the pursuit of frustration.

The beauty of reality is that we are masters of its creation.
