The undo option has very limited options. Sometimes it takes me back to the initial stage when I only need to step back few steps. May be I am a novice but there are occasions when I cannot reverse the last action. Any opinions or advice on this.

The undo system should always undo the last operation, be it moving a slider or doing a brush stroke. If you go back to the markup stage, then the undo stack gets cleared, so that's one to watch out for. If you do something and you can't undo it, it's possible that's a bug, and if you can re-create the problem and tell us, we can try and fix it.
